blouse crops denim fashion flats menswear OOTD reviews Ricki's skinnies
Is the Menswear trend still a thing...?
|Remember a while ago, possibly a few years ago, when vests made a quick resurgence in popularity? It was short-lived, I think. I had bought a vest at the time, and it didn't get a lot of wear (always thinking about that cost-per-wear thing) and I was determined to get my money's worth out of it... it was hard, but I think I found a way...
Every time I tried to wear this, I hated it, because I would fall back on the white blouse/vest combo... which made me feel like I looked like a server, or accountant or something.
I know others have paired vests with t-shirts, peasant blouses, flowy blouses, and I've almost always liked the look, but I have had such a hard time finding a way to wear my vest that I liked on me.
Then, I tried it with this pale blue blouse from Ricki's and I found that I liked it. Ricki's calls this shirt "light denim" but its not, really. Its a pale blue cotton blouse with a smidge of a woven texture. The "feel" of the blouse is nothing like denim. Its kind of perfect, really. Its got just enough body to work well as a tailored, fitted blouse (giving my apple shape more of an hourglass look) but isn't so stuff that its uncomfortable. Ater washing, its even softer (and I've yet to wear it again, so I am not sure if the "body" is all gone). I paired it with cropped skinnies and flats to keep it from looking too structured and "officey," and I think its a success.
